Meet the passionate, dynamic staff of California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) fighting to solve the climate crisis and advance justice!

Matt Abularach-Macias (he/him) is EnviroVoters’ Campaign and Organizing Deputy Director. Originally focused in San Bernardino and Riverside, Matt has expanded to also work on our statewide organizing efforts. In this role, Matt has been able to build partnerships and amplify community concerns about the impacts of climate change, the local benefits from investments in clean energy, and the critical need to conserve and protect our environment. Outside of EnviroVoters, he chairs the Board of the Inland Region Equality Network an Inland Empire based LGBTQ Advocacy & Education Org. His work with EnviroVoters(EF) and IREN is an extension of his previous organizing on educational access, LGBT rights, and anti-racism issues. He got his start in the professional organizing and political world as a regional field director on the successful campaign to elect Pete Aguilar to US Congress. Blake Ballard (he/him/his) is EnviroVoters’ Senior Philanthropy Associate. In this role, he is responsible for fundraising administration, data management and event coordination. Blake has previously worked as an Organizing Fellow with People for the American Way and Business Development Representative at EveryAction/NGPVAN where he assisted various nonprofits and campaigns with database management and fundraising strategies. He is originally from Boulder, Colorado and graduated Pepperdine University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Contact Blake at blake@envirovoters.org

Veda Banerjee (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Senior Communications Director. She manages overall communications and marketing strategy, thought leadership, press relations, and digital marketing at EnviroVoters that impact bold climate policy. She has extensive experience in corporate communications, public-private partnerships, online marketing, and the ability to forge productive relationships with diverse stakeholders and build community. Prior to joining EnviroVoters, she worked at San Francisco Goodwill and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy managing media, digital marketing, and social media strategy. She has a graduate degree in journalism, public relations, and marketing, and been an invited speaker at SXSW, NTEN (Nonprofit Technology), and PR News Big 4 conferences. Kim Beavers (she/her) is Envirovoters’ Membership Representative. She has worked at Envirovoters since 2012, phone canvassing and emailing members for updates, renewals, and special gifts. Prior to working in the non-profit world, she was a news reporter (both print and radio). She studied social work at Morgan State in Baltimore, and is originally from Atlanta. In her spare time, she moonlights as an event photographer and cat sitter, and enjoys cuddling with her own cat, Moe Barry Jones. Contact Kim at kim@envirovoters.org

Lauren Beebe (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Email and Web Manager. She brings 4 years of experience in the nonprofit communications space and a background in writing and mathematics. Janet Cambra is EnviroVoters’ Membership Representative. She has been calling for California Environmental Voters, formerly California League of Conservation Voters, since 1998. Janet has worked with many national nonprofits and was also previously a bookkeeper. She enjoys cooking and museums. Contact Janet at janet@envirovoters.org

Mary Creasman (she/they) is the Chief Executive Officer of California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) and California Environmental Voters Education Fund. Under her leadership, EnviroVoters has more than tripled in size, launched three new local PACs, expanded organizing efforts in battleground regions across the state, and beaten Big Oil in head-to-head races 70% of the time to elect climate champions.

Spearheading the rebrand from California League of Conservation Voters to EnviroVoters, Mary focused the organizations toward climate justice, power-building, leadership accountability, and creating the global roadmap for policy action. Leading unprecedented marketing campaigns to hold elected leaders accountable, EnviroVoters catalyzed the most significant year of climate action in California history in 2022.

Throughout her tenure the organization has made groundbreaking progress: protecting democracy in 2020 through expanding mail ballots to every eligible voter, securing a $54 billion climate investment in the 2022 state budget, and passing landmark environmental, legislative and regulatory policies including 2023’s biggest climate victory in the nation – passage of the Corporate Climate Accountability Act.

Prior to EnviroVoters, Mary served as the California Director of Government Affairs for The Trust for Public Land where she led the successful Proposition 68 campaign, passed the largest parks tax measure in the nation in Los Angeles County, and created a first-ever government funded and run urban greening program.

As Chief Strategy Officer at Green For All, Mary worked on Cap & Trade policy during the Obama Administration, launched youth organizing programs in partnership with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and developed public education campaigns with talent including Kendrick Lamar, Common, Drake, the Black Eyed Peas, and more.

Mary began her career as a union organizer and then Political & Organizing Director of the AFL-CIO Labor Council and Democratic Party in Silicon Valley, winning dozens of electoral campaigns and national landmark policies related to affordable housing, big box retail, living wages, and government contracting.

In her role as Associate Director at the Partnership for Children & Youth, and as an independent consultant, Mary has advised groups across the country on organizational development, effectiveness, and culture. She has been widely featured in media including in the Los Angeles Times, The Hill, Politico, the Sacramento Bee, and San Francisco Chronicle.

Andrew Escamilla is EnviroVoters’ Campaign and Organizing Manager. Andrew supports EnviroVoters’ Organizing work in Fresno and other parts of the Central Valley. Originally focused on building equity and organizing students and families in California K-12 schools, Andrew will continue to Organize marginalized communities, ensuring their voices are centered and uplifted in the climate crisis movement. Andrew in his role as the Regional Organizer will help shape the public narrative, educate lawmakers, cultivate environmental and environmental justice leaders, drive policy change, and expand regional partnerships and action in the Central Valley. He graduated from Fresno State University with an M.A. in Education with the option in Higher Education Leadership. He is passionate about higher education access and equity for all, making sure front line communities are at the forefront of solutions when it comes to climate change, and the solutions put forth. Charlotte Fall (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Grants Manager. In this role, she supports the management of our grants portfolio by developing proposals and reports to secure funding for our programs. She is passionate about creating lasting change for our future generations by advancing an inclusive environmental movement. Prior to joining EnviroVoters, Charlotte participated in AmeriCorps’ American Conservation Experience in Arizona, worked at the Environmental League of Massachusetts’ with the development team, and at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center with the residential clean energy team. Charlotte graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Human Services and International Affairs. Kristen Farlow (she/her) serves as the HR Generalist at EnviroVoters’, where she supports the HR department in advancing organizational goals through strategic initiatives and talent management. Ainslie Faust (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Senior Administrative Assistant. She has many years experience in the yoga world where she served as Executive Administrator at USA Yoga Federation, a nonprofit that organized and promoted yoga as a sport. A life-long learner, Ainslie used a feminist methodology in her PhD dissertation, focusing on the need for a feminist cosmology in the genesis of female artists. Living in Los Angeles, Ainslie loves combining astrology with activism, reading mysteries and literary fiction, and practicing meditation and yoga. Contact Ainslie at ainslie@envirovoters.org

ReJeana Goldsborough (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Senior Events Manager. ReJeana is passionate about using inclusive, sustainable event strategy to create memorable experiences for nonprofits that create meaningful, lasting impact. Prior to joining EnviroVoters, ReJeana managed event production for the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and their cityowned campus, the La Kretz Innovation Campus (LKIC), in Downtown LA. Prior to that, she oversaw programming and community engagement at the Malibu Foundation, and prior to pivoting to the nonprofit sector worked in various production roles in the entertainment industry. Before relocating to Los Angeles from Reading, Pennsylvania, ReJeana earned her B.A. in Communications &amp; English from Alvernia University and went on to earn an M.S. in Media Production &amp; Management from Boston University. ReJeana enjoys volunteering with TreePeople, the Marine Mammal Care Center of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles City East Valley Animal Shelter. In her free time she enjoys all types of storytelling from movies to TV to video games, as well as hiking, writing short fiction, and taking long walks with her elderly rescue dog, Thea. Danielle Graham (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Executive Assistant. Danielle is a seasoned Executive Assistant with over 20 years of experience in this field. She is known for her capability to supply high-quality work products, exceptional communication skills, and ability to support C-Suite Executives. Her earlier experience as Executive Assistant at FirstService Residential and HR Administrator Specialist at Crystal Stairs Inc have prepared her for this role at EnviroVoters. In her current position, Danielle works closely with the Managing Director to supply comprehensive support to the CEO. Danielle’s inspiration is her son Nolan. Erika Guzman Cornejo (they/she) is EnviroVoters’ Press Manager. They are a first-generation Salvadoran immigrant raised in Los Angeles and have spent their professional career working towards immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and anti-racist children’s advocacy; Erika is thrilled to promote equity for these communities through environmental justice. She graduated from UCLA Law School with a Master of Legal Studies and a specialization in Public Interest. In her spare time, Erika enjoys hanging out with cats and lifting weights. Tami Harmon is EnviroVoters’ Senior Human Resources Generalist. She brings over 15 years of diverse human resources and benefits administration experience to the team. Renna Hickey (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Sierra Regional Organizer, after transitioning from the EnviroVoters’ Cohort 3 Ambassador Program. In her role, she supports EnviroVoters’ mission in power building, electoral and local league activities, and advocacy efforts for the Sierra Nevada region. She recently graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. During her undergraduate, she worked in local government offices, local campaigns, and political organizations. Oliver Ignacio (he/they) is EnviroVoters’ Senior Social Media Manager, where he oversees all of EnviroVoters’ social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok). Upon graduating from UC Berkeley with an undergraduate degree in Society and Environment, Oliver launched his career in social media management for non-profits in the Bay Area. Oliver has managed social media campaigns and platforms focused on public health issues such as COVID-19 vaccination, health equity for California’s most vulnerable population, and extreme heat within the Central Valley. He is passionate about communications in public and environmental health as it affects disenfranchised communities, particularly within the Central Valley and the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. His favorite social media platform is TikTok or BeReal and prefers Instagram Stories over Feed posts! Fatima Iqbal-Zubair (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Legislative Affairs Manager. In this role, she works with our elected leaders and stakeholders in the Capitol to pass transformative climate policy that will meet the urgency of this moment. Living in a frontline community in South Los Angeles, Fatima brings with her lived experiences and intersectional advocacy in a frontline community that has struggled with the impacts of environmental racism for far too long. Her activism stemmed from her work as a high school Science teacher in Watts working in a school that has contaminated water and land. Since then, she has grown to be part of numerous local and statewide coalitions and is excited to use her experiences and focus on youth to create communities all across our state that are healthy, livable, and thriving. In her free time, she loves supporting her South LA Robotics team that she founded, crossfitting, watching her favorite TV shows, and spending time with her family, especially her 8-year son. Shanil Jiwani is EnviroVoters’ Head of Partnerships. Prior to joining EnviroVoters, Shanil worked for the Democratic Governors Association, where he cultivated the organization’s fundraising and new donor programs while raising millions of dollars during the 2020 election cycle. Shanil’s political fundraising experience stems from his work with Hillary for America, Center for American Progress, and the GW Annual Giving Program. In addition, Shanil volunteered to organize Muslim and Asian American & Pacific Islander voters with Ismailis Rise Up and Texas AAPIs for Biden. Annquenetta Lawrence is EnviroVoters’ Deputy Director of Administration and Human Resources. She brings with her over 30 years of experience in office management and administration, with particular strengths in writing policies and procedures, creating and implementing processes, organization, project management, and providing comprehensive C-level administrative support. Annquenetta is responsible for overseeing the HR team, IT, and Facilities. A native of California, Annquenetta resides in the City of Oakland with her daughter, two grandsons, and poodle. Pa Houa Lee has a strong passion for serving and supporting her community. With a degree in Sociology and a certificate in Social Justice and Social Change combined with her continuous efforts to volunteer and stay civically engaged to educate and empower others about sustainability and conservation efforts. Lucas Lineback (he/him) is EnviroVoters’ Development Manager of Annual Giving. He’s worked at EnviroVoters since 2008. His work focuses on database administration; data management and analysis; grassroots fundraising program management, with a focus on phone canvassing, direct mail and online fundraising; coding and targeting for communications; general data support for the organization, and copyediting. Lucas grew up in Indiana and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in journalism. Outside of EnviroVoters, he enjoys teaching and training Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. Naomi Lopez (she/her) is the Youth Advocate Associate at EnviroVoters. She manages the Youth Ambassador Training Program, which is designed to educate and mobilize young people around climate justice and advocacy in the Central Valley and Inland Empire regions. Naomi pursued her master’s degree in public policy at UC Riverside and worked with the Ofice of Sustainability during her studies. In this role, she focused on educating students on environmental justice issues and collaborated with local nonprofit organizations to plan workshops and interactive events. She has experience in affordable housing and is passionate about sustainable, inclusive development and climate-aligned housing policy reform for all. Currently, she is a fellow with Liberty Hill’s Environmental Leadership Initiative, a program that works to build power with disadvantaged communities overburdened by environmental harm. Manasa Makineni (she/they) is Envirovoters’ Membership Representative. They are passionate about environmental justice and people power. They have previously worked in both trainings and outreach in their time with the Sunrise Movement. She has graduated from Whittier College by self designing their major of Social Justice and minor of Social Movements. Marquis Mason (he/him) is EnviroVoter’s Advocacy Partnership Coordinator. He is a Pacific Northwesterner at heart, having grown up in Oregon and Washington most of his life. Marquis moved to California in 2022 to join EnviroVoters to ensure economic empowerment and social justice is at the heart of climate policy, hoping to bring lessons learned from his years of coalitional work. Prior to his time with EnviroVoters, Marquis worked in Tacoma Washington, to stop the expansion of corporate polluters and ensure that the second largest metro area in Washington which is the state’s economic engine invests in a low carbon economy. Marquis and allies were successful in passing one of the strongest fossil fuel bans in America, ensuring that corporate polluters were making the switch to low carbon fuels. Prior to that, Marquis was working for the Oregon League of Conservation Voters, a fellow member of the Conversation Voter Movement alongside EnviroVoters. Marquis’ background is in youth organizing, with groups like Sunrise Movement and 350.org. Marquis went to college in Bellingham Washington near the Canadian border, where he studied Population Health and Advocacy, approaching climate work from a public health and environmental justice perspective. Marquis has family all along the west coast, in Washington, Oregon, Montana, California, Nevada, and Arizona. In his free time, he loves all things nerdy, language learning (French, Spanish, and Portuguese), karaoke, staying active, playing video games, and traveling. Aaron McCall (he/they) is EnviroVoters’ Federal Advocacy Coordinator. After spending the last four years of the Biden administration fighting to pass investments that would bring access, equity, and environmental justice to the lives of Californians through the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and coalition work on the Expansion of two National Monuments, and the addition of two new National Monuments (San Gabriel & Berryessa National Monuments, and the Chuckwalla and the Sáttítla Highlands National Monument), Aaron is EnviroVoters’ primary climate and clean energy advocate working with California Federal Leaders to protect the progress we’ve made – while continuing to push for continued climate action at every opportunity.

Aaron got his start during the first Trump Administration as a young grassroots activist based out of Orange County, California serving as the chairman of Indivisible OC 48 in California’s 48th congressional district, and later served on the Board of OCYD as Political Director and Vice Chair! Aaron continues to work actively in Orange County to advance conservation and climate action and was on the OC Register’s 2018 list of 100 most Influential people. Before becoming an “accidental activist” Aaron was a cognitive psychology student, earning a BA in Psychology from UC Irvine, and an MSc in Psychiatric Research from King’s College London in the UK. Gracyna Mohabir (she/they) is EnviroVoters’ Clean Air and Energy Regulatory Advocate. In this role, they are responsible for leading EnviroVoters’ regulatory advocacy on major climate law priorities that the organization supports. Gracyna previously worked with Californians Against Waste on organic waste policy, as well as interned with the U.S. Forest Service and Department of State. They graduated from UC Davis with degrees in Economics and Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning, which helped cultivate their interest in climate policy and environmental justice. Emily Montero (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Deputy Digital Director, where she supports the development and execution of strategies to optimize digital growth and online fundraising. Prior to joining EnviroVoters, Emily worked for Starlight Children’s Foundation developing and implementing performance marketing campaigns to drive online fundraising and build brand awareness. She graduated from Chapman University with a degree in Communications and minor in Political Science. Deja Perry (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Grants Specialist. In this role, she supports the management of our grants portfolio by assisting with researching, organizing, and coordinating collaboration on grant opportunities. Deja previously worked as the Senior Development Associate for Greenbelt Alliance where she supported the administrative management of all fundraising revenue streams and events. She is originally from Sacramento, California and graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies. She is passionate about mobilizing resources and building community power to realize a more sustainable and just future. Santiago M. Rodriguez is the Legislative Affairs Assistant at EnviroVoters and one of the first people to go through our new internship process. In this role, Santiago conducts policy research and supports the legislative staff by tracking bills, representing the organization in committee hearings, and drafting official position letters for legislation. Santiago graduated from the University of Redlands with a degree in public policy and has dedicated his career to better understanding injustice and how the legislative process can be leveraged for change. Melissa Romero (she/her) is EnviroVoters’ Policy Advocacy Director. In this role, Melissa represents the organization in the state’s capitol, lobbying for strong environmental policies and working with partner organizations on advancing priority legislation. Her work includes tracking and prioritizing legislation, representing EnviroVoters on a variety of coalitions and networks, working with state legislators and their staff, and being the organization’s voice in the capitol. Prior to EnviroVoters, Melissa worked with Californians Against Waste on advancing waste reduction and recycling legislation and at Cal State Long Beach, Associated Students Inc. advocating for sustainability and zero waste policies and practices on campus. Melissa’s interest in policy began with an interest in environmental sciences and developed with strong sense of urgency to address the need to shift away from fossil fuel use and other extractive industry practices. Jason Smith (he/him) is EnviroVoters’ Senior Digital Content Producer, where he produces infographics, videos, animations, and everything in between. Since graduating from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in 2015, Jason has freelanced as an animator and commercial director, creating content that featured fruit, underwear, and microphones. He is beyond thrilled to finally put his visual talents to use for his greatest passion: fighting climate change and promoting green technology/legislation. Contact Jason at jason@envirovoters.org

Gina Stovall (she/they) is EnviroVoters’ Deputy Director of Institutional Giving. In this role she works across the organization to develop a portfolio of grants, manage reporting, and compliance, and support the development of EnviroVoters’ programs and initiatives. Over the past decade working on climate change, Gina has become particularly cognizant of the importance of sustainable funding to power movements and finance innovative solutions. Prior to joining EnviroVoters, Gina worked on climate resilience planning and implementation in New York State’s Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery where she led strategic managed retreat and resilience efforts after Hurricane Sandy devastated the region. Gina also has a background in coalition building and cross-sector climate action, bringing together cities, states, academia, NGOs, and other decisionmakers to build data-driven, justice-oriented climate programs. Gina holds a Master’s from Columbia University in Climate & Society and a Bachelor’s in Geology from The City College of New York – CUNY. Kristina von Hoffmann (she/her) is California Environmental Voters’ Managing Director. She partners closely with CEO Mary Creasman to chart and implement EnviroVoters’s strategic response to organizational opportunities and challenges. Her responsibilities center around fostering deep engagement, learning, collaboration, and planning opportunities with staff and board members as the frontline point of contact for day-to-day operations. In this capacity, Kristina provides direct oversight of administration and human resources, finance, information technology, and organizational development, while centering racial justice and equity across the work of the organization. Prior to EnviroVoters, KvH served as the Senior Operations Director at Climate Resolve where she upheld the strategic vision of the organization in support of the Executive Director and Board, contributed directly to tripling the organization’s budget over five years, and grew CR’s operational and programmatic infrastructure. A holistic health advocate, Kristina has also maintained a private yoga instruction practice for the past 10+ years primarily serving elders and corporate teams. She imbues this experience into her work as a professional leader, building inclusive and transformative work cultures for teams. KvH graduated from Scripps College with a Dual BA in Environmental Policy and French Language. She is a devotee of hip hop and deep house, finds inspiration in the works of Toni Morrison and Neil Gaiman, and is the immediate Past-President of the Venice Heritage Foundation where she successfully led a grassroots effort to open the first-ever museum for her internationally renowned hometown of Venice, California. Felix Wang (he/him) is the Public Lands Fellow at EnviroVoters. EnviroVoters is working to hold elected officials accountable to our public lands and climate goals by expanding existing public lands and designating new national monuments in California. Felix collaborates with coalition partners to build local power, educating and mobilizing Californians to advocate for public lands protections. Felix graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy, Institutions & Behavior. As a student, he served as the campaign coordinator for NJPIRG Students, advocating for Rutgers University to commit to 100% renewable energy by 2050. After graduating, he worked with Food & Water Watch to petition for 100% clean electricity in New Jersey cities. Mike Young (he/him) is EnviroVoters’ Executive Director. He has nearly two decades of experience working on electoral campaigns and organizing with key political and grassroots community partners to build strategic relationships that have helped both identify and support environmental leaders, as well as hold legislators accountable to their community’s concerns. In 2013, he received the Carroll Inspiration Award by the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats, and in 2020 was listed on the Top 40 Under 40 by the National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs. He’s a graduate of Pepperdine University where he earned B.A.s in Political Science and Philosophy, as well as an Undergraduate Certificate in Dispute Resolution.
